Lee grew up in Niles, Il and was lucky enough to be included in the Niles Centennial History Book 1899-1999, Chapter 19 – Sports Activities, https://www.vniles.com/925/Niles-Centennial-History. He and his family are in the book for winning the inaugural Jerry Niedermaier Memorial Award in 1983 for “outstanding service to the Niles Baseball League in the spirit of sportsmanship demonstrated by Jerry.” He is also in the book for playing for the Niles Nuggets Semi-Pro Baseball Team for 17 years. Baseball has been a big part of his life.
He graduated from Elmhurst College with a B.S. in Management Science and Economics, and from I.I.T. with a M.B.A. in Information Management. After graduating from Elmhurst College, he was able to get a job with Playboy Enterprises through networking since he was coaching a baseball team with the son of the General Manager of the Playboy Warehouse in Elk Grove Village on it. That is where he got his start in IT by working on the IBM System 34, the IBM System 38, and the IBM AS/400. Continuing to work on the IBM AS/400 coding in RPG he was privileged enough to complete work for Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), Motorola, Waste Management, AMCOL International, McDonald’s, Multigraphics and A.B. Dick.
For the next nine years, he made a transition into Operations with a small family owned paint finishing and powder coating company. After leaving, in 2016 he started in a WIOA Training Program and was able to complete his PMP Certification, ITIL Certification, Six Sigma Green Belt Certification and Certified Scrum Master. While looking for more local job search help in 2018, he found CareerPlace (The Barrington Career Center) in Palatine. One month later, he was working for CareerPlace through the SCSEP Program (Senior Community Service Employment Program). So, he was able to say, “Not only do I work here, but I am a client.” He was hired in 2023, and he looks forward to supporting the magnificent work that the Volunteers do and supporting the Members that are in job search.
Lee also volunteers for his sister-in-law’s non-profit, Bright Birthdays, and is the President of his homeowner’s association. He enjoys watching his older son play baseball, his younger son play rugby and raising his two cats.
